Invasive Termites Are Expanding Across Florida: What the 2026 Research Means for Property Owners
Two invasive termite species, the Formosan subterranean termite and the Asian subterranean termite, have spread well beyond South Florida and now threaten structures statewide. That finding comes from a University of Florida study published in February 2026 in the Journal of Economic Entomology, based on more than three decades of monitoring data. Both species continue expanding their range with no sign of slowing.
